Empowered Speech & Language Therapy provides personalised, compassionate support for children with a wide range of communication needs. Therapy is delivered at home, in school or nursery, or virtually, depending on what works best for you.
What I Offer
AAC Support
I am passionate about supporting all forms of communication, including AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
High-Tech AAC
I have experience with high-tech AAC systems, including GRID from my NHS practice. Where appropriate, I support children who are minimally verbal or non-speaking to access appropriate AAC systems, including tablet-based and dedicated communication devices, in collaboration with families and settings.
These systems can offer voice output, personalised vocabulary, and flexible communication support.
Low-Tech AAC
I also support low-tech strategies like aided language stimulation, core boards, and visual communication books. These approaches are ideal for introducing AAC and supporting consistent communication at home and in school.
AAC does not delay speech or language development. In fact, research shows it often enhances communication. I will work closely with you to choose the best system and support its use with confidence.
Assessments
Assessments provide a detailed understanding of your child’s communication strengths and needs and are the starting point for therapy. While information from previous assessments or reports is reviewed where available, I always complete my own assessment to ensure recommendations and therapy targets are appropriate, current, and tailored to your child.
Initial and Review Assessment
A one-hour assessment completed at home or school to explore your child’s speech, language, and communication strengths and needs. This may be used as an initial assessment or as a review during ongoing therapy to inform next steps and appropriate targets, alongside consideration of any previous reports. Includes a clear and informative summary report.

Comprehensive Assessment
An extended assessment lasting up to two hours, recommended when more in-depth exploration is required. Includes a comprehensive, formal report outlining strengths, areas of need, and clear next steps.

EHCP/EHCNA Assessment
A comprehensive assessment with no time restrictions, designed to gather detailed evidence to support an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) application or an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA). Includes a formal report with detailed, education-focused recommendations.

Detailed Services and Pricing
Therapy Sessions
Therapy sessions are delivered in your child’s home or school and tailored to their individual communication needs.
Single Therapy Session (up to 60 minutes)
Individualised one-to-one therapy delivered at home or in school. Includes session planning and session resources.

Block of Therapy Sessions (6 or 10 sessions)
Discounted package for regular therapy, saving 5-10%. Sessions must be used within 4 months.

Add-On: Progress/Discharge Summary Report
Available after a minimum of 4 therapy sessions, this written summary outlines your child’s progress, key strategies used, and recommendations for next steps. It’s ideal if you need a written update for a school meeting or to review progress during an ongoing therapy block or following a therapy block.

Additional Services
Speech and Language Therapy Programme
A personalised programme of strategies, targets, and activities tailored to your child’s communication needs. Designed to be delivered by parents or school staff with guidance from Empowered Speech & Language Therapy. This is ideal for children who do not require frequent direct therapy, or where schools need support implementing strategies.
What is included?
- A written therapy programme with goals and tailored activities
- One follow-up review session (30 minutes)
- Email support for implementation questions
Important note:
An initial or review assessment must be completed before a programme is provided. Further therapist-led input or additional review sessions may be recommended depending on your child’s progress and evolving needs.

AAC Editing Service
If your child already uses a high-tech AAC device, or you’ve recently purchased one for communication, I can offer personalised support to help you get started and make the most of it. This may include editing and organising vocabulary, building custom grids or pages, and ensuring the system reflects your child’s interests, routines, and communication needs.
For some children, I may instead recommend a low-tech AAC option, such as a personalised communication book, if this is a more appropriate or accessible starting point. I can design and make up individualised communication books, and may also recommend these alongside a high-tech device to ensure your child continues to have communication support if a device is unavailable or not working.

Professional Time Outside Therapy Sessions
Some families require professional time outside of therapy sessions. This may include attending meetings (such as school, nursery, or multidisciplinary meetings) or extended telephone calls to discuss a child’s needs, progress, or support.
Brief telephone calls (up to 15 minutes) are not charged.
Time spent in meetings, and telephone calls lasting longer than 15 minutes, is chargeable and will be agreed in advance.
All chargeable time is billed at my standard hourly rate, calculated to the nearest 15 minutes
